Executive Order 7029—Allocation of Funds to the Department of Agriculture for Emergency Conservation Work

Whereas continued prosecution of emergency conservation work under the provisions of the act of March 31, 1933, c. 17, 48 Stat. 22, as continued by the Emergency Relief Appropriation Act of 1935, approved April 8, 1935 (Pub. Res. No. 11, 74th Cong.), will provide relief and work relief and will increase employment by providing for useful projects: Now, Therefore , by virtue of and pursuant to the authority vested in me by the said Emergency Relief Appropriation Act of 1935, the sum of $400,000 is hereby allocated from the appropriation made by the said Act to the Director, Emergency Conservation Work, for immediate transfer to the credit of the Department of Agriculture, subject to requisition by the Secretary of Agriculture, for prosecuting the conservation work provided for by Executive Order No. 6208 dated July 21, 1933, as amended by Executive Order No. 6787 dated June 30, 1934, Executive Order No. 6724 dated May 28, 1934, and Executive Order No. 6766 dated June 29, 1934. For the purposes of this allocation the Secretary of Agriculture is hereby authorized to employ the services and means mentioned in subdivision (a) of section 3 of the said Emergency Relief Appropriation Act of 1935, to the extent therein provided, and, within the limitations prescribed by the said section, to exercise the authority with respect to personnel conferred by subdivision (b) thereof, and he is further authorized in the acquisition of real property or any interest therein to acquire the same by the power of eminent domain, when necessary. Acquisition of articles, materials, and supplies for use in carrying out any project authorized by this order shall be subject to the provisions of Title III of the Treasury and Post Office Act, fiscal year 1934 (47 Stat. 1489, 1520).
